01 · Install the beta

  1. Get TestFlight

    Install Apple’s TestFlight app on an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.

  2. Open the invitation

    Open the Along Cast beta invitation on that iPhone, accept the invitation, and install the available build.

  3. Check for updates

    TestFlight shows new builds and their expiry. If a build expires, install a newer one when available. If the beta is full, check the installation help.

02 · Plan a familiar journey

Choose your starting place and destination, then check the travel mode and departure time. You can search for both places yourself, or allow location access to start where you are.

Give the map and forecast time to load. Read the trip summary, then look along the route to see when you would reach different conditions. Check any warnings and the source’s update time.

Keep the source in view

Swedish weather warnings come from SMHI. Trafikverket road reports and cameras cover Sweden where available. A gap in coverage or an old update is a reason to check again, not an all-clear.

03 · Compare, then prepare

Where alternatives are available, compare a different departure time or route. Read the reason behind a suggestion before applying it, then check that the chosen route, departure, and arrival match your plan.

When you are ready for directions, open the journey in Apple Maps. It calculates its own route from the endpoints and travel mode, so review it before leaving.

Set up the trip while parked. Forecasts and road reports help you prepare; actual conditions and official guidance should guide decisions on the road.

Choose what to turn on

A departure reminder

Schedule a notification for your chosen time. It is a reminder to prepare, not confirmation that the forecast has been checked again.

Trip monitoring, where available

Enable it separately on an upcoming trip to check for material weather changes and, for driving in Sweden, nearby road reports. The trip shows its last successful check. Read about checks and notifications.

A shared drive

Share only if you want someone else to see your plan. Anyone with the link can open it. Live location is a separate choice; review the sharing details first.

Tell us what happened

The most useful feedback is specific: “I chose 10:00, but the main button still says leave now” gives us something to investigate.

  1. Open TestFlight → Along Cast → Send Beta Feedback, or take an in-app screenshot and choose Share Beta Feedback.
  2. Explain what you tried, what you expected, and what happened. Cover private information in screenshots.
  3. Include an email address in the feedback form if you would like a reply.
